94-year-old pedestrian knocked down by car in Edgware, seriously hurt

A man in his nineties was left with permanent injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Edgware.

Emergency crews attended Camrose Avenue just before noon on Tuesday, March 18, following reports that a pedestrian had been struck.

When they arrived, responders found the 94-year-old had sustained injuries that would have lasting effects on his life, according to London Now.

London Ambulance Service medics assessed him at the scene before taking him to hospital.

A motorist aged 44 was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and being unfit to drive due to cannabis use.

He was taken into custody but has since been released under conditions.

The Metropolitan Police indicated that inquiries are continuing.

A representative for the force explained that on March 17 at approximately 11:30, officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Camrose Avenue in Edgware.

Emergency services arrived at the location.

The elderly male victim received medical assessment at the scene by paramedics and was transferred to hospital.

His injuries have been classified as life-changing.

The 44-year-old man was held on suspicion of causing serious injury through careless driving and driving whilst impaired by cannabis, before being taken to a police station. He has since been released on conditional bail.

The investigation remains active with enquiries continuing.
