Reports of attempted vehicle seizure

One driver caught in the backlog contacted us to describe an alleged hijacking on this section of motorway.

According to their account, a VIP police escort was travelling from Watford towards Brent Cross when the procession stopped due to an incident ahead.

A constable told the stationary motorists that an individual had attempted to seize another vehicle by jumping between two moving cars.

The traffic came to a standstill for more than half an hour.

Verification from authorities has been sought from the Metropolitan Police.

Present condition

Following the emergency response, all carriageways have reopened, though vehicles are advancing at a considerably reduced speed.
