A teenager aged 17 has entered a guilty plea to arson charges following an incident at a synagogue in Kenton.
The youth, who is British and resides in Brent, cannot be identified due to his age.
He acknowledged the offence of arson without risk to life at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 21.
Online footage depicted an individual dressed in dark attire igniting a bottle containing liquid and hurling it through a window at Kenton United Synagogue on the evening of Saturday, April 18.
The Community Security Trust, a Jewish charitable organisation, reported that slight smoke damage affected one interior room, though no casualties or substantial harm to the building’s structure occurred.
During the brief proceeding, the 17-year-old stood in the dock accompanied by two security personnel and only provided his personal information before admitting guilt.
Two relatives, among them his mother, occupied seats positioned before the dock.
The court was informed that two additional individuals suspected of involvement remain unresolved in the case.
District Judge Nina Tempia released the minor on bail subject to conditions requiring him to remain and sleep at his residential address and prohibiting him from entering any synagogue premises.
She stated to the accused that bail would be granted to allow his release that day, warning that any violation of these conditions would result in immediate arrest by police.
The teenager is scheduled to appear at Willesden Youth Court on June 4.
A 19-year-old man who was also detained following the incident has been granted bail while investigations continue, according to the Metropolitan Police.
