A former singer who performed under the stage name Ross Wild has been ordered to serve 14 years behind bars after being convicted of numerous rape and sexual assault charges involving six separate complainants.
Following two separate trials, the ex-Spandau Ballet member was held in custody, with Judge John Dodd KC requesting a February assessment to determine the risk he might present in future before setting the sentencing hearing for Thursday, April 30.
The 37-year-old appeared at Wood Green Crown Court in London on Thursday morning to receive his sentence.
Shikha Verma, a senior prosecutor with CPS London, released a statement through Metro stating that Ross Davidson represents a dangerous predator who selected multiple victims across an extended period.
A former frontman of the 1980s band who committed multiple rapes and sexual assaults has been imprisoned for 14 years. Ross Davidson from Aberdeen performed with the group in 2018 and 2019 and assaulted six women over several years.
Several of the crimes were committed against women while they were unconscious.
The victims demonstrated tremendous bravery by assisting with the prosecution, and Davidson must now answer for these appalling offences.
The prosecution agency recognises how difficult it is for victims to report such crimes and wishes to confirm that the CPS will persist in working with criminal justice partners to ensure those who commit sexual violence receive the full penalty prescribed by law.
Davidson maintained that his interactions with the women, whom he encountered through the Tinder dating application, were always consensual and identified himself as someone with a positive attitude toward sexuality.
Earlier this year he informed the court that his approach centred on frank discussion, tolerance regarding different preferences, and willingness to explore various sexual desires.
These could encompass bondage, restraint, and group activities, and he had attended a sexual gathering on a small number of occasions.
Conversely, the court was informed that he committed the assaults because he believed he could obtain sexual gratification whenever he wished if he was not receiving what he believed he was entitled to.
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden noted that Davidson had cultivated a reputation as someone attractive to the opposite sex.
Two victims described him as possessing a significantly more sinister character.
One woman informed the jury that Davidson assaulted her while she was unconscious in his bed and remembered feeling unable to defend herself and frightened to respond.
Prior to attacking her, Davidson had discussed his interest in the concept of sexual activity with a mannequin, an individual in a defenceless condition, someone remaining completely motionless.
