Is Monzo experiencing an outage?

Users located in Liverpool, Leeds, London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh have indicated that the Monzo app is currently inaccessible for them.

Seventy-six per cent reported difficulties with the application itself, while 11 per cent encountered problems with money transfers and nine per cent faced issues accessing mobile banking features.

Monzo confirmed the disruption through a notification displayed within the application to all its customers.

The message indicated that the service was experiencing issues and continued by explaining that the app would not be fully functionable. The company thanked customers for their patience.

Nevertheless, the company assured users that essential functions would remain operational, including card transactions, cash withdrawals and the ability to view account information.

Card freezing facilities should also continue working, alongside the processing of incoming and outgoing bank transfers.

The company indicated that users would retain the ability to shift funds between their accounts and savings containers, as well as reach out for assistance.

A Monzo spokesperson commented that the company was currently experiencing a technical issue and was working to resolve this as soon as possible.

The spokesperson added that in the meantime, the company had moved into its back-up system Monzo Stand-in and customers could still do most things on their Monzo app including sending bank transfers and making card payments and ATM withdrawals.

Users on Downdetector have been documenting their frustrations, with one individual noting that they could not access any early payments, but could see all pots and transfer between them and still use their card to make payments but that was all.

Another individual wrote that every time they called Monzo, the voicemail said that they could transfer money between accounts on their emergency website. They stated they could not do it and asked if anyone else could and how.
