The Duchess of Sussex is apparently thinking about going back in front of the cameras.
Sources indicate Meghan Markle is in preliminary discussions about appearing in Netflix’s Guy Ritchie production The Gentlemen, which would mark her first significant acting work since her marriage to Prince Harry.
Her potential comeback comes as the Duke and Duchess are reportedly planning to head back to Britain with their offspring, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, before the month is out.
The pair are expected to reside at a non-royal property away from the capital, and their children have already been registered at UK schools.
Prior to stepping away from her career, the Duchess was best recognized for playing Rachel Zane in the American legal series Suits.
She also featured in movies such as Horrible Bosses and A Lot Like Love.
The Gentlemen, an expansion of Mr Ritchie’s 2019 movie bearing the same title, chronicles Duke Eddie Horniman’s tale of unexpectedly inheriting his father’s countryside estate—only to find it conceals an underground marijuana operation.
The programme features Theo James and Kaya Scodelario in leading roles and is slated to debut its second run later in the year.
Insiders say Markle is being looked at for a possible third series, despite the show not yet receiving formal renewal, according to Deadline.
The Duchess recently made a fleeting return to acting with a brief appearance as herself in the forthcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, starring Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
A prominent talent representative informed the Press Association that casting directors and producers would definitely want to sit down with Meghan should she return to acting, adding he was certain there would be interest in her.
Professor Jonathan Shalit, head of InterTalent Rights Group, stated that if Meghan made the choice tomorrow that she genuinely wanted to act again, casting directors and producers would definitely want to meet her and give her an audition. He noted that she would not automatically receive every part she applied for, since no one does, but opportunities would certainly arise.
The initial series of The Gentlemen was shot at Badminton House in South Gloucestershire, merely 10 miles from King Charles III’s Highgrove Estate.
