We tried a Moana afternoon tea and the Disney themed cakes were welcome

Budding Disney princesses should pull on their glass slippers and make their way to Mayfair.

There at the Park Lane Hilton they will surely be treated like royalty as they indulge in an afternoon tea that befits their status.

A corner of the ground floor brasserie is set aside complete with Disney movie music, figures to pose next to and pretty salmon pink crockery.

The latest Disney princess to grace the silver screen is a live action version of Moana and if the menu referenced Tiana and Cinderella it was our South Pacific heroine who took most of the glory including Wayfarer scones and a coconut chocolate bombe called A Drop in the Ocean.

Our elaborately moustachioed waiter even looked like a character from a Disney movie – and treated us to an afternoon of impeccable service – ‘You’re welcome!’

First up an Early Grey tea and a mocktail for my teenage princess and savouries.

They included cream cheese and salmon, a gorgeous roast beef and mayo sandwich, a chicken and cucumber, and a cheese delicacy carefully made to look like a cheese wedge – each inspired by a different Disney movie from Beauty and the Beast to The Princess and the Frog.

Old as we were there was the excitement of unboxing a treasure chest to reveal scones, cream and jam, and pretty as a picture, sugary desserts that went to our heads.

Moana’s Heart of Te Fiti was a matcha biscuit with white chocolate filling and the Taste of the Sea a light pudding made with passionfruit curd and pineapple compote cut with lime.

Island Flowers were shortbread biscuit with vanilla mousse and strawberry, while our favourite was the Snow White inspired warm apple pie with a hint of cinnamon.

Models of the various Princess castles were laid out on the counter and most of our fellow guests had come in their favourite dressing up outfit for the occasion.

There was just time to have our trio of chocolate truffles delivered in a glass slipper on a velvet cushion – get a selfie with Moana and be awarded special Princess certificates.

Then we boxed up our leftovers and turned back into a pumpkin as the metaphorical clock struck midnight on our magical afternoon.
