Harrow Council has opened a brand-new resident service centre, giving local people the chance to engage directly with employees regarding council tax, benefits, garden waste collection schedules, and parking permits.
The centre is situated at 6 Gayton Road in Harrow and provides in-person support across a wide array of municipal services, including Blue Badges and general enquiries.
The location features self-service machines, dedicated advice counters, and a reception zone set up for quick queries.
Priority appointments are reserved for vulnerable individuals who risk losing their homes and cannot access online systems or phone assistance. The centre welcomes visitors Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Cllr Stephen Greek, responsible for performance, communications and customer experience, explained that the new Resident Contact Centre marks substantial progress in putting residents first and improving how services reach the public. Getting through to the council has become considerably simpler.
The general enquiries phone line has already been reinstated and multiple improvements have been made to simplify resident communication while speeding up how quickly queries are handled. With friendly staff now offering face-to-face support, residents can feel confident that help is always within reach.
Resources will continue being channelled towards the services the community relies on most, preserving the standards people expect and deserve.
Local people can still access the full suite of online options via harrow.gov.uk, including reporting fly-tipping and other environmental issues, making enquiries about benefits and council tax, handling waste-related matters, submitting planning proposals and permit applications, and finding school admission information.
The general enquiries phone line stays open throughout normal working hours. Those requiring independent internet access can use free computers at all Harrow branches.
The council’s new digital self-service terminals are currently being rolled out.
The first terminal is now live at Wealdstone Library, offering residents a convenient way to access vital council services without queuing. For official procedures such as weddings, citizenship ceremonies, and recording births and deaths, the Pavilion Register Office remains open at Perceval Square, College Road.
People with disabilities, unpaid carers, older residents, and those managing long-term health conditions can receive walk-in support during Harrow’s Conversation Café sessions.
Full details about accessible services and ways to contact the council are available at harrow.gov.uk or by calling 020 8863 5611.
