Russell Brand Denies New Sexual Assault Claims Including Rape

The funnyman and performer arrived at Southwark Crown Court this morning on February 24.

The defendant confirmed his identity and entered not guilty pleas from the dock while wearing a spotted feline-pattern shirt with several buttons undone and holding a white hat.

This is the second time the entertainer has appeared in court facing sexual offence claims.

Previously, he denied two rape accusations, one indecent assault accusation, and two sexual assault accusations connected to alleged incidents between 1999 and 2005 concerning four women.

The entertainer’s previous court date was in May of last year when he denied the initial five accusations, and he again denied the two further sexual offence accusations today on February 24.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed in December that charges had been brought against the defendant for the two most recent offences. At that time, the force indicated that it had issued two new charges against Russell Brand, 50, from Oxfordshire. These charges comprised one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. According to the statement from the Metropolitan Police, these new charges related to two additional women and expanded upon charges that had been filed against Brand in April 2025. Those earlier charges involved four women, two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Police detectives initiated their inquiry into the funnyman in September 2023 after receiving several allegations, which followed investigations by Channel 4’s Dispatches programme and The Sunday Times newspaper.

The two most recent accusations are said to have taken place in the capital.

Court proceedings have previously been told that the defendant stands accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room during her attendance at a Labour Party conference in Bournemouth, as well as indecently touching a television worker’s chest and sexually assaulting her after dragging her into a male toilet.

He also faces accusations of grabbing a radio station worker’s face, pressing her against a wall and kissing her before indecently touching her chest and buttocks.

One of the original five accusations alleges the performer indecently assaulted another woman by gripping her forearm and attempting to drag her into a male toilet.

The case is due to proceed at Southwark Crown Court later this year regarding the original five accusations.
