Hidden behind the main playground, Buxton School’s Secret Garden is a thriving outdoor classroom where primary and secondary pupils learn, explore, and grow.

Once a small green patch, the area in the Leytonstone school now blooms with flowers, vegetables, and laughter, providing hands-on lessons in science, teamwork and sustainability.
Students care for the garden all year-round, planting seeds and harvesting produce, fostering responsibility, curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world.

The garden features a beehive, maintained with help from Bushwood Bees volunteers, and primary pupils benefit from workshops led by Plant Environment that link classroom learning to nature.
Our honey recently won third place at the Epping Forest Beekeepers Honey Show, highlighting the success of this collaborative effort.
Secondary Eco Warriors help maintain the garden, keeping it sustainable and welcoming.
