The concept of producing yogurt in my own kitchen has always appealed to me, though I previously believed it would be complicated or demand extensive equipment. The Lakeland Multi Yoghurt and Soft Cheese Maker has completely altered my perspective. Following several weeks of use, I can genuinely state this ranks among those compact kitchen tools that rapidly secures a permanent spot on the countertop.

With growing numbers of people preparing meals from scratch nowadays, a recent Lakeland poll revealed that 31% of UK adults are now cooking from scratch more frequently than twelve months prior, it comes as no surprise that devices like yogurt makers are enjoying renewed interest. I can certainly appreciate the attraction now. The ability to create something as ordinary as yogurt yourself proves unexpectedly rewarding.

What impresses me most is how straightforward the procedure is. You simply combine a small amount of plain yogurt with warm milk, transfer it to one of the containers and adjust the time and temperature using the digital interface. I typically set it before bed and wake up to a substantial quantity of freshly made yogurt.

The appliance produces approximately 1.65 litres of plain yogurt in a single batch, sufficient for breakfasts, overnight oats and the occasional smoothie throughout the week.

The end product tastes excellent, genuinely fresh, smooth and tangy in a manner comparable to the premium varieties available in stores, yet devoid of any additives.

I’ve been incorporating honey, berries and nuts, and it works wonderfully when served over granola. There’s also reassurance in knowing precisely what has gone into it.

An additional advantage involves the freedom to trial various milk varieties. I began with full-fat milk for a denser outcome, though semi-skimmed proved equally satisfactory. Should I prefer thicker, Greek-style yogurt, I simply strain it through the provided strainer, which separates the whey and delivers a much richer consistency.

On the whole, the Lakeland Multi Yoghurt and Soft Cheese Maker has rendered homemade yogurt considerably simpler than anticipated. It proves straightforward, adaptable and an effective means of reducing plastic yogurt containers while savoring something fresh and home-produced.

The soft cheese functionality proved an unexpected bonus as well. Employing the straightforward recipe guide, I produced a ricotta-style cheese that tasted delicious spread on toast with herbs. It’s not something I would have considered making independently, though the machine renders it entirely achievable.

Regarding its physical design, the unit remains compact and lightweight, occupying minimal counter space. The digital display proves legible and user-friendly, and once configured, practically requires no further attention until completion.

I didn’t anticipate reaching for it as frequently as I now do, yet it has rapidly established itself as a staple in my weekly cooking habits.
