Lidl’s Big Green Egg BBQ clone saves £900 – beat the rush

Published on

Customers have mere hours left to get ready before Lidl releases its popular egg-shaped barbecue copycat – and industry watchers predict stock will vanish within minutes.

The £249 ceramic cooker, already being called an affordable version of high-end ceramic egg-style grills, becomes available for reservation on 23 April – though this is no ordinary retail scramble.

Anyone wanting to purchase one will need to act quickly and follow a precise procedure.

How to secure a Lidl egg BBQ and avoid missing out

To guarantee a purchase, customers must launch the Lidl Plus application the moment reservations open, confirm their booking before 26 April, and then pick it up from a physical store from 30 April onwards.

Miss that deadline, and options become extremely limited.

With constrained supplies and intense social media excitement, numerous units are anticipated to be taken rapidly – leaving those who delay searching desperately for any remaining stock in shops.

Why is there such urgency?

The frenzy stems from the substantial price difference. Luxury ceramic egg grills can retail for nearly £1,000, while Lidl’s model is priced at £249 – making it one of the most notable barbecue deals of the season.

Combined with increasing interest in kamado-style cooking, conditions are ideal for a complete sell-out.

Prospective buyers should not delay – once supplies are exhausted, they will not return.

However, for those who miss out, the wider grill launch features the Kansas Charcoal BBQ (£79.99), Kettle BBQ (£22.99) and Mini Ceramic Kamado BBQ (£79.99) – offering options for every garden and grilling preference.

From £5.99, buyers can equip their barbecue setup with essential add-ons including a BBQ Cover (£5.99), Cast Iron Griddle (£14.99) and Grill Pan (£14.99) – everything required for basting, searing and presenting dishes elegantly.

The Big Hot Dog Sausages (£3.99) and Smash Burger (£3.49) are also on offer, alongside Lidl’s Minted Lamb Kebabs (£3.45), available from 30 April.
