The documentary collection Sleeps Over, fronted by Stacey Dooley, is back for another instalment, this time featuring a celebrity element.
The former Strictly Come Dancing winner will visit famous personalities and their relatives for weekends in the forthcoming seventh series, providing viewers with an exclusive glimpse into their personal worlds through her characteristic straightforward approach to interviews.
Earlier instalments have showcased individuals from diverse walks of life, including a nine-year-old content creator and someone who described herself as a benefits recipient, though this marks the inaugural occasion the format will concentrate solely on prominent guests.
The programme is introducing this celebrity-focused variation.
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, viewers and critics have embraced Stacey’s sleepover concept because the format enables participants to share genuinely candid insights about their character, connections, and way of living, including both positive aspects and more challenging elements. The approach consistently produces an authentic portrayal that works well with her style. This marks her first celebrity-focused series, and it will be compelling to observe how the stars respond to this particular setup.
The programme first aired in 2019 and has since produced four UK iterations alongside two American adaptations. Past episodes have showcased a teenage cage fighter, a 70-year-old dominatrix, and families living with disabilities.
The celebrity edition will be available on Channel 4, UKTV’s U&W, and BBC iPlayer. Filming is expected to commence in September, with the lineup set to be announced shortly.
In other television developments, Ecosse Films has unveiled the cast for a revival of the classic BBC series. The reimagined Monarch of the Glen, originally airing between 2000 and 2005 chronicling the comedic and dramatic experiences of a Scottish Highland estate, is being produced in collaboration with Masterpiece PBS for Channel 5.
Julia Brown, recognised for her role in Karen Pirie, headlines the production as Isla Campbell, a London-based solicitor who returns to the Highlands following her estranged father’s death and uncovers she has inherited debt totalling a million pounds. She will be joined by Chris Fulton from Bridgerton as her sibling Alasdair, and Ewan Miller in the role of Ewan, the estate’s gamekeeper and family confidant.
Additional cast members include Phyllis Logan from Downton Abbey as Morag, Rishi Nair from The Marlow Murder Club portraying businessman Daniel, John Gordon Sinclair known for Gregory’s Girl as family solicitor Fergus, and Gordon Kennedy from The Diplomat as Angus, the livestock keeper.
The initial run, also under Ecosse Films’ production, drew inspiration from Sir Compton Mackenzie’s Highland Novels and ran for seven series comprising 64 episodes on BBC One. This revival will present a contemporary perspective centred on female characters while filming takes place in Scotland and Northern Ireland, targeting broadcast on Channel 5 and Masterpiece PBS in 2027.
