Hull holiday home manufacturer Sunseeker enters administration, putting 76 jobs at risk

A manufacturer of holiday accommodation has fallen into administration, threatening employment and manufacturing operations.

Sunseeker Holiday Homes, operating from Hull, appointed insolvency practitioners on Monday, September 7, with the appointment formally announced on September 10.

The business, which provides work for 76 employees, produces static caravans and holiday lodges.

The enterprise was established in 2019.

Frazer Ulrick from Westgates Restructuring Limited was appointed administrator through the High Court.

The company maintains a base in Hull, Yorkshire, and its online platform indicates that its leadership team possesses extensive expertise spanning more than a century within the holiday accommodation sector.

The enterprise markets its offerings as featuring innovative design, exceptional build quality, and pioneering creativity, while highlighting that its leadership brings over 100 years of collective industry knowledge.

In financial statements recently filed for the 12-month period concluding in August 2025, the business acknowledged challenging market conditions encompassing rising prices, volatile consumer sentiment, climbing borrowing costs, and supply network difficulties.

Company officers stated in the filings that the organisation possessed sufficient means to sustain operations for a minimum of 12 months following the approval of these financial documents.

The accounts received approval on May 27, merely four months prior to the business entering administration.

Officers indicated they had implemented measures to bolster the financial position and address market uncertainties, encompassing production cost reductions, comprehensive treasury projections, pricing reassessments, and investigation of alternative income streams.

Sunseeker Holiday Homes provides purchasers with a warranty lasting at least two years, though the continuity of operations and fulfilment of existing customer obligations now hang in the balance.

Administration constitutes a formal legal mechanism invoked when an enterprise cannot satisfy its financial commitments.

Should a business enter administration, it signals an inability to cover expenditure, outstanding debts, or other monetary obligations.

Companies House clarifies that upon entering administration, an organisation commences a formal legal procedure governed by the Insolvency Act 1986, with the intention of realising one of the statutory purposes of administration.

This typically involves preserving a solvent business that finds itself financially strained due to liquidity issues.

A licensed insolvency practitioner assumes the administrator role, with appointments made by company directors, lenders, or the courts to oversee the administration process.

Once administration commences, a statutory freeze period takes effect, providing a window during which financial restructuring strategies can be developed without creditor interference.

Trading activities may persist throughout the administration period, though day-to-day oversight transfers to the appointed administrators.

Companies House further explains that within two months, administrators are responsible for developing administration proposals.

These proposals subsequently require creditor approval through a formal decision mechanism.

Should the administration involve transferring all or part of the enterprise, funds realised from any sale, following deduction of procedure expenses, are distributed to creditors according to a legally mandated priority sequence.

Administration concludes automatically after one year unless the administrator petitions courts or creditors for an extension.

Through the administration process, an organisation may be restored to its directors, enter liquidation, or be wound up.
