ITV is launching a fresh entertainment programme featuring a prominent football personality in the hosting role.
The Box makes its debut on Saturday, September 5th, with ten well-known figures set to compete across a series of enigmatic challenges.
Gary Lineker, whose broadcasting career includes extensive work with the BBC, assumes presenting duties for this new format.
Participants will find themselves in undisclosed locations, confronting tasks that could involve physical demands, comedic elements, or a combination of both.
Minimal guidance will be provided as the celebrities navigate each challenge.
The competition concludes each episode with a direct confrontation known as The Duel, pitting the final two remaining contestants against one another, with the defeated competitor eliminated from the contest.
Beyond his recognised association with football coverage, Lineker has previously fronted television formats.
He presented the ITV quiz series Sitting on a Fortune during 2021 and 2023.
Additionally, he co-hosts The Rest Is Football podcast alongside former footballers Alan Shearer and Micah Richards.
The competing lineup spans various entertainment sectors.
Representing reality television are Joey Essex, known from The Only Way Is Essex, and Shakira Khan, a Love Islander.
Sports figures include former footballer Graeme Souness and JLS band member JB Gill.
Broadcasting personalities feature Lorraine presenter Ranvir Singh and The Chase star Jenny Ryan.
Additional participants encompass Dragons’ Den investor Sara Davies, comedian and actress Ellie Taylor, YouTube content creator Danny Aarons, and former Commons Speaker John Bercow.
The series launches on ITV1 following The Voice UK, commencing at 8:15pm on Saturday evening.
Digital viewers can access the opening two instalments immediately through the ITV X streaming platform.
