A pair of prominent Harrow residents received public recognition during a significant spiritual gathering in the borough.
The Sant Sansad assembly, held at Harrow Leisure Centre, coincided with the 25th anniversary of the International Siddhashram Shakti Centre UK.
The milestone event gathered more than 25 religious figures and spiritual leaders representing various traditions from across India and further afield.
Discussions at the assembly centred on international harmony, peaceful coexistence and the celebration of cultural diversity.
The proceedings formed part of broader commemorations marking a quarter-century of Sanatan seva and charitable work delivered by the organisation under the leadership of H.H.
Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji.
Cllr Marilyn Ashton, who serves as deputy leader of the local authority, was presented with an accolade from the World Book of Records.
The honour acknowledged her sustained civic commitment spanning a quarter of a century.
She delivered remarks to the assembled delegates, which included spiritual figures, elected representatives and community leaders.
Bob Blackman CBE MP, representing Harrow East in Parliament, additionally received acknowledgment from the same centre for his extensive community involvement and his persistent advocacy in the House of Commons on matters relating to India, Hindu communities and the broader population.
The Government of India has also recognised the MP’s contributions through the award of the Padma Shri.
Network 10 managing director Sanjay Giri was present among the guests at the ceremony.
