The streaming service has revealed a collection of upcoming programming, featuring new comedy projects from the creative forces behind two successful British sitcoms.
The company described the announcement as representing its most diverse range of commissioned projects so far, with additional drama, entertainment, and unscripted content also confirmed.
Among the headline comedy offerings is a six-part mockumentary centered on competitive Irish step dancing.
The project originates from Lisa McGee, who previously created the Channel 4 hit Derry Girls, with filming scheduled to take place in Northern Ireland during the coming year.
Another comedy series has been ordered from Robert Popper, responsible for the long-running Friday Night Dinner.
The untitled family-focused sitcom will bring together an ensemble of well-known performers.
Anne Mensah, Netflix’s vice president for United Kingdom content, noted that the competitive British television market demands more than adequate programming, requiring a pursuit of excellence across drama, comedy, entertainment, live broadcasts, and factual content.
She stated that the announced lineup demonstrates the company’s willingness to embrace creative risks and celebrate British talent.
Additional commissions include a drama featuring Kate Winslet and Maxine Peake, following two sisters who must flee after committing an act of retribution.
The series stems from writer Jack Thorne and director Mounia Akl.
In the entertainment category, a darts competition will pit twenty amateur players against the world’s leading professional, with a prize fund of £501,000.
The event will be presented by Gary Lineker with commentary from Richard Osman.
Other announced projects consist of a darkly comic drama adapted from Bella Mackie’s successful novel, alongside a new extension of the Sidemen’s popular Inside series.
Recent viewership data indicates strong audience appetite for comedy programming on the platform, with Brooklyn Nine Nine emerging as the most-watched television series in the United Kingdom during July 2026.
The procedural drama The Rookie also performed strongly, along with a recent release from Harlan Coben.
The American iteration of The Office maintained significant viewership, underscoring the platform’s appeal for comedy enthusiasts.
