A person has been killed in a stabbing incident at Brent Civic Centre during the afternoon hours.
Emergency responders attended the location after receiving reports of the attack, and one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. London’s Air Ambulance service was dispatched to provide assistance.
Both Brent Civic Centre and Wembley Library have been shut down following the occurrence, as confirmed by information posted on the Council’s official website.
Attempts have been made to obtain additional information from the Metropolitan Police and Brent Council regarding the situation.
Witnesses have described observing a cluster of men hastening toward the facility after a reported dispute. Authorities have yet to verify these accounts.
More than ten police vehicles are currently stationed along Engineers Way in response to the incident. Officers have established barriers at various entry points, including Empire Way and Rutherford Way along Engineers Way.
A police cordon has been set up around the municipal building, with restrictions preventing access to the adjacent Sainsbury’s Local and surrounding businesses.
The Leader of Brent Council stated that local residents have been profoundly disturbed by this devastating event, describing it as deeply troubling for the community.
A murder inquiry has been initiated following the fatal attack. A Section 60 order has been sanctioned, granting police expanded stop-and-search capabilities. This measure applies throughout the Wembley Park, Barnhill, Tokyngton, Stonebridge, Roundwood, Dollis Hill, Willesden, and Welsh Harp ward areas of Brent.
Forensic specialists are examining the premises, with an evidence tent erected inside the civic centre. Officers are visible conducting their work at the location and stationed at the front of the building. Investigators have gathered evidence from a nearby restaurant.
