The celebrated country music star Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80, according to a statement from her family.
Bryan Seaver, who is the son of Cassie Parton, posted a video statement on Dolly’s official Instagram account informing followers of the news on the evening of August 25.
He delivered the announcement concerning his aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, noting that Dolly had requested he create this video announcement years earlier, long before he truly considered it something he would one day need to do.
Having served as her head of security for more than 20 years, following in the footsteps of his father Larry who held the same position before him, Bryan explained that he had pictured how heavy this moment would feel but had not truly experienced it until now.
He stated that carrying out this duty was both an honour and a privilege, one intertwined with deep pride alongside profound sorrow.
Bryan also noted that Dolly had spent her life living in the light.

The footage captured Dolly performing the beloved classic duet with the late Kenny Rogers during a live stage appearance.
Her Instagram profile largely showcased highlights from throughout her distinguished career, which saw her achieve numerous records.
Earlier in August, Dolly was unable to attend the opening night of a new attraction at her theme park in Tennessee after suffering from dizziness and dehydration, with medical professionals recommending she avoid travelling.
Following the cancellation of her appearance, she spoke to People magazine about her health struggles, explaining that she had neglected her own wellbeing while caring for her husband Carl.
The country music legend had been married to Carl Thomas Dean for almost six decades until his passing in March 2025, when he was 82 years old.
