Radio presenter Trevor Nelson has disclosed that he recently learned he has a brain tumour.
The 62-year-old broadcaster and DJ posted the announcement in a video shared on Instagram, stating that his life changed dramatically after receiving the news and that he has taken time away from his professional duties to focus on his health.
He explained that many people had noticed his earlier social media post at the beginning of the summer in which he announced he was stepping away from all his work responsibilities due to illness.
He acknowledged that there had been considerable guessing among fans about what was causing his absence.
His phone had been contacted repeatedly by individuals wanting to know what was affecting him.
He was going about his normal life when testing revealed the presence of a brain tumour.
He expressed that the news came as a tremendous shock to him.
He described feeling as though his entire life had been completely disrupted.
He chose to halt his professional activities because he felt unable to present his radio shows while dealing with such a serious medical condition.
Nelson had an operation just a few weeks following his diagnosis and reported that the procedure was extremely successful.
He has been staying at home for the past month to recuperate and is currently undergoing treatment after the surgery.
Despite the gravity of his medical situation, Nelson now reports feeling excellent and is prepared to resume his broadcasting career.
He stated that he feels refreshed and nearly like his old self again.
He acknowledged having faced a grave circumstance but indicated he has moved past it and is feeling wonderful.
He expressed enthusiasm about getting back to work.
He stated he feels healthy.
His fellow BBC presenters offered their support in the comments section of his Instagram post.
Zoe Ball from BBC Radio 2 commented that it was wonderful to see Nelson looking well.
She sent him her warmest wishes for a full recovery.
Melvin Odoom, who presents on Radio 1, expressed his affection for Nelson and said he looked forward to hearing him back on air shortly.
Fearne Cotton wrote that she cares deeply for Nelson and was delighted to hear he was recovering nicely.
The official BBC Radio 2 account stated that the entire team was sending their love and expressed anticipation for his return.
Nelson is recognised for hosting his weekday programme from 2pm to 4pm on BBC Radio 2 and for his Sunday late-morning show on BBC Radio 1Extra.
He first revealed in June that he would be stepping away from his professional commitments because of health concerns.
