The cut-price retailer Aldi has announced plans to search for sites for additional outlets across the northern parts of the capital.
The budget food retailer has compiled a list of preferred zones as it pushes forward with its nationwide store opening programme.
According to the company, the proposed branches would offer customers more wallet-friendly grocery choices and generate employment opportunities for nearby residents.
The chain states it ranks among the best-paying retailers, with shop floor staff working inside the M25 zone receiving £14.88 per hour.
The locations under consideration include Wembley, North Harrow and Wood Green in the north of the city, along with Maida Hill in the western area close to Harrow Road.
This development follows the announcement that construction is underway on a new Aldi outlet on the former B&M premises along Willesden High Road, with an expected opening scheduled for the latter part of this year.
Jonathan Neale, who serves as managing director of national property at Aldi UK, stated that affordable, quality produce located near people’s homes remains a priority for the company, which is why identifying neighbourhoods that would gain the most from a new store has become a key focus.
He explained that establishing branches in these locations would allow the company to extend competitive pricing to additional consumers while simultaneously generating positions and providing compensation that leads the sector.
Growth across the capital forms part of Aldi’s broader UK expansion blueprint, with investment exceeding £370 million earmarked for new outlets this year and an ambition to reach 1,500 stores across the country in the long term.
The company is looking for freehold, leasehold or long leasehold properties in high-visibility spots with straightforward customer access and is inviting landowners and property agents operating in Greater London to put forward viable options.
