Spotify is experiencing widespread technical difficulties according to numerous complaints.

As of 12.54pm on Tuesday, July 14, over 3,500 individuals had logged faults with the music service on Downdetector’s tracking platform.

Approximately 38 percent of the problems cited by users relate to the mobile application, while 30 percent involve playback difficulties.

One DownDetector user reported that the application on their phone was refusing to load any content whatsoever. They stated they had attempted to play tracks, follow performers and search for songs or artists without success.

Another individual simply wished to hear a track about garden-dwelling octopuses.

Disgruntled customers took to social networking sites to express their frustration with the platform.

One X user (previously known as Twitter) noted that Spotify appeared to be offline and asked whether others were encountering the same problem.

A separate user inquired whether others were experiencing glitches with the service.

A third individual mentioned that Spotify was malfunctioning, initially suspecting their own internet connection before concluding that the service was genuinely unavailable.

What exactly is Downdetector?

Downdetector functions as an online portal enabling users of widely-used services such as X, Instagram, Facebook, Virgin Media and additional platforms to submit reports when experiencing difficulties.

The website only documents an incident once the volume of complaints substantially exceeds the normal baseline for that particular time period.

The platform describes itself on its website as the destination people turn to when services fail to function properly.

The site observes disruptions affecting various essential services spanning internet connectivity, web hosting providers, financial institutions, social media networks and beyond.

Users can view the complete methodology and obtain further information regarding Downdetector’s approach to gathering status data and identifying faults through the website.

Essentially, individuals can participate by filing reports about any difficulties they encounter on the platform.

The service also gathers problem indicators from social media channels and additional online sources, according to Downdetector.

These submissions undergo validation and examination as they arrive.

An incident is flagged when the quantity of reports notably surpasses the standard average for that specific service.

Visitors investigating an issue can view which problems are generating the most reports and determine whether their location falls within one of the affected areas.
