The Claire’s Accessories shop at Brent Cross shut its doors last week – the same time administrators announced intentions to close 154 British stores.

The accessories and jewellery retailer concluded its activities at the north London shopping complex following a clearance sale.

A spokesperson for Brent Cross commented that the retailer finished trading at the end of the previous week, and its departure would be noticeable.

On Saturday 27 April, administrator Kroll confirmed that 154 standalone branches had stopped trading – affecting 1,300 members of staff.

The company indicated that all shop workers had been informed about their redundancy.

Roughly 350 concession counters remain operational, with many of these located inside Asda stores.

For many young people across Britain, Claire’s served as a bright destination where they could get their ears pierced or buy colourful jewellery, hair products, and small decorative items.

Modella Capital, which owns Claire’s, placed the business into administration during January, citing difficult trading conditions, mounting costs, and weak performance during the Christmas period as reasons for the decision.
