The burger chain has revealed intentions to raise prices as a result of the situation involving Iran.
Speaking to reporters, UK and Ireland managing director Lauren Shultz mentioned an anticipated slight increase in costs.
The business is presently reviewing the timing of such price changes.
However, Shultz explained to The Mirror that the Meal Deal and Saver menu items would remain the same.
According to Shultz, the company must balance cost pressures against any necessary adjustments to pricing.
In a later conversation with BBC Radio 4, Shultz explained that the company has been operating in an uncertain, inflation-affected environment for a number of years now.
She noted that because of this uncertainty, the company is keeping a close watch on inflation patterns.
She added that the company has durable, established relationships with its suppliers, which have delivered considerable price stability.
She mentioned that the company will likely see some prices increase, but in a measured and gradual way.
She explained that this approach aligns with where customers are comfortable paying marginally more.
McDonald’s confronts business difficulties
The UK head of the burger chain has pledged to continue spending on restaurants and staff members despite difficult pressures that have prompted many businesses to cut costs and reduce their workforce.
Lauren Shultz, chief executive of McDonald’s UK and Ireland, told the Press Association that the company had kept its workforce numbers steady despite rising wage bills, with each restaurant still staffed by between 70 and 130 employees.
However, she acknowledged that demanding market conditions were making things tough for businesses.
She remarked that running a business is currently difficult due to consumer-related factors and the competitive environment.
She added that in such a demanding climate, those operating their businesses differently from this company’s approach might cut back and scale down operations to control spending.
