Robotic Surgery Systems Launched Across Two Medical Centres

Published on

Personnel at Northwick Park Hospital have been getting to grips with robotic technology ahead of the first procedures set to take place this week.

Two Da Vinci surgical platforms have been introduced across the trust’s Northwick Park and Ealing sites by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

The trust anticipates these devices will carry out roughly 700 procedures per year by the end of 2027.

A further robotic unit is already in use at Central Middlesex Hospital, providing support for specialised bowel treatments.

A hospital spokesperson said this marks a major step forward in updating surgical care, improving patient outcomes and establishing the trust at the forefront of NHS innovation.

Members of the public are being invited to share suggestions by emailing lnwh-tr.communications@nhs.net, with robot naming competition entered as the subject line, including proposals for what each machine and corresponding hospital should be called.

Northwick Park Hospital, named after the surrounding parkland, was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1971.
