Capital’s Most Improved Hospital Now Ranks Seventh in England

The NHS trust overseeing Northwick Park Hospital has earned the title of London’s top-performing improving healthcare organisation.

London North West University Healthcare clinched seventh place among England’s most improved trusts under the NHS national oversight framework. The trust attained category one status for the inaugural time since the framework commenced at the start of the present financial year.

This assessment framework evaluates trusts against benchmarks encompassing accident and emergency waiting periods, diagnostic and treatment delays, alongside fiscal management.

LNWH achieved its highest-ever national standing, positioned 16th out of more than 130 acute trusts.

Pippa Nightingale, chief executive at LNWH, remarked that these results reflect exceptional acknowledgement of staff members’ considerable commitment and efforts throughout the year, and demonstrate authentic, measurable advancements in patient care covering both outcomes and overall experience.

The trust displayed improvements across several significant domains, comprising an enhanced standardised hospital mortality figure, decreased hospital-contracted infections, fewer individuals waiting twelve hours or longer in accident and emergency prior to admission, and ongoing enhancements in the pace of cancer identification for those with suspected cases. Furthermore, the trust placed fifth nationally for treating oncology patients within the 62-day target period.

Ms Nightingale observed that the organisation takes considerable pride in the substantial progress achieved by services despite an exceptionally challenging year, and that continued efforts remain a focus while anticipating further advancement on these results, which clearly demonstrate movement in the correct direction towards delivering enhanced, more sustainable care for local communities.

LNWH additionally provided treatment to more individuals within the 18-week target duration than originally forecast and accomplished its financial goals.

Trusts that do not satisfy their financial targets or record a deficit cannot obtain a rating above category three.
