The broadcaster has dismissed Scott Mills following an allegation concerning his personal behavior.
The 53-year-old presenter took over the Radio 2 breakfast show in January 2025, succeeding Zoe Ball after an extensive career with the organization.
The Eastleigh-born DJ was pulled from his Radio 2 program last Tuesday (March 23) while the BBC reviewed the information.
The Mirror reports that his contract was ended over the weekend.
In a statement, the BBC said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC.”
The career of Scott Mills
Mills started his broadcasting journey at age 16 as a disc jockey for Power FM, a local commercial station in Hampshire.
He was given the chance to host a week of programs, and because of his performance, he was offered the overnight timeslot from 1am to 6am.
This positioned him as the youngest permanent presenter on mainstream commercial radio.
He left Power FM for GWR FM Bristol, then moved to Piccadilly Key 103 in Manchester, where he continued in the late-night slot.
He later transitioned to the mid-morning show there before joining the new London station Heart 106.2 in 1995.
He then became part of BBC Radio 1 in October 1998, hosting the early breakfast show that aired from 4am to 7am.
In January 2004, Mills switched to a weekend afternoon slot, which was followed later that same year by a move to the weekday early-evening slot, which had become available because of Sara Cox’s maternity leave.
Cox did not return, and Mills became a permanent presenter of the early evening program, which was renamed The Scott Mills Show.
The program shifted to an afternoon slot in April 2012 when Mills exchanged presenting duties with Greg James.
While at Radio 1, Mills also provided holiday cover for other presenters and hosted The Official Chart from June 2018 until August 2022.
Mills joined Radio 2’s weekday schedule in 2022 when he took over from Steve Wright as the host of the afternoon slot.
Before that, he worked on Radio 1 and presented a weekend show on BBC Radio 5 Live.
